Meet Ayomide.

Policy Coordinator

A newcomer to the Police Reform and Restorative Justice scene, Ayomide is a first-generation Nigerian immigrant based in the D.C. metro area. She is an incoming Freshman at the University of Chicago where she plans on majoring in Global Studies or Political Science, with a concentration in International Relations, and a minor in Human Rights. Ayomide is an ardent supporter of social justice causes and believes that youths are key in generating long-awaited change and assisting the growth of marginalized communities.

Over the past two years, Ayomide has been a writer at Balance the Ballot, a political student-run organisation that aims to raise awareness about current events, political involvement, and combating the under-representation of youth in politics through daily news articles. On numerous occasions, Ayomide has been heavily involved in her community from aiding in the organisation of local Pride parades to being a consistent volunteer at a temporary living shelter. She also spent the last few months of her senior year assisting eligible students at her high school in learning how to register to vote and spreading awareness about the importance of voting. In partnership with Students for Black Lives, Ayomide has been tutoring high school students with 100% of the proceeds going to BLM organisations.

Ayomide is dedicated to assisting minorities and plans to engage in future projects that promote equity across the U.S.
