This is where YOU come in...
YEP is all about youth engagement and youth voice. Whether it's working within policing circles, funding sustainable journalism practices, organizing collaborative entrepreneurship programming or curating forums on gender and identity, YEP has been at the forefront of youth partnerships. We have grown to understand that it's these youth led and involved programs that have the ability to address a whole range of social issues, here in Portland and across the country.
YEP's founding mission was to develop a comprehensive program that would decrease confrontation between young people and police, while increasing community wide trust around policing and public service. Three years later we have written and vetted a full training curriculum for police, expanded the reach and impact of our PPPDX forum events and built a robust network of youth and adult networks. While this mission will remain central to YEP's work, we are increasingly realizing the need to bring our experinces and successes to other young people. We want your voices, your lived experiences, and your passions to drive projects of equal importance. Please consider the below as both a way to further our work in policing, but also a model to take action on what matters to you.
